If you are seeing the person first its still ok to say Happy New Year.
But don't go beyond this month.

I think mostly by the 15 Jan. "Happy New Year" isn't said so much. Perhaps a few more days if it's to someone that you haven't seen in a really long time.

I think otherwise it's just going to come across as more "phony" or fake, and there are a lot more things you could be saying to some one that would otherwise be sincere.

But...yeah... mostly I think people aren't saying it by about this time of the year.

Why not, I'd say atleast til Feb.1,or if u havent seen a person in awhile, go for it, Happy New Year !

of course it is still ok to say Happy New Year because it is still only January.
