It is not arrogance. It is confidence. Do not confuse the two. Americans changed the world, invented electricity, the light bulb, the nuclear bomb, we put a man on the moon, a space craft on Mars and a moon of Jupiter, Americans live for their goals of the future. We want to become not be. We (at least most of us) are more concerned with we and not I. Americans have brought TV, Hollywood, Computers, Internet. Americans hold life liberty and the pursuit of property as inalienable rights given by G-d that all men are free and created equally. These things are self-evident. Where else in the world can you Bash the leader of the nation as the Democrats do and live to tell about it in the years to come without being sent to prison. Where else in the World can women vote, go to college and be counted as a total person. Women's rights is a thing that is illusive in many parts of the world but American women have those freedoms. Where in the world can a woman go to the police and have her husband arrested for abusing her?
This is America, this is the nation that has brought freedom and equality to the world. It is not arrogance. It is confidence that is America puts it united mind together anything can be done. The US can accomplish anything that they are united in doing.

Because our government is out of control, as empires often go. Rome did it, the British did it, Germany, Japan, Holland, France, many countries around the world have become arrogant with their own power and ability to take resources and control others. As an American, I can only hope that now that we can see that the emperor has no clothes, the empire will soon fall. Iraq is probably going to be the end of the US empire.
As far as Europe though, Europeans governments are doing what to stop the Bush agenda? As far as I can tell, they are providing loans to support the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan - we're in a deficit, so we have no money - we're borrowing from other countries - who? Germany, Italy, France, Britian, maybe even Poland. It's ok for you to criticize our government, but what about yours? Why aren't they trying to stop Bush? He's a madman on the loose and they are letting him go unchallenged.

Arrogant? Empire? Colonization? Where do these people get facts? We took an empire from Spain, the vast portion of that we gave up voluntarily.

free oil huh? did you read the oil proposal? they want to be treated fairly like the us tries to treat others fairly. by giving billions upon billions of aid and resources to other countries. that alone says they can be arrogant as you put it. no country in the world has done more for this world than the US and they have the right to defend themselves and insure their ability to continue to do good for the world while also prospering internally.
leader envy much?

You should study history.
The US was a colony.
Britain, France, Portugal, and Belgium were the countries that colonized the world.
Especially France & Britain.
YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT HISTORY, EH?

Yes, your question is very refreshing. Refreshes my mind of all the good America has done for all the failing socialistic , thankless, victims of war heros like Adolf Hitler.
