Have you tried using the "System restore" utility under "Accessories" / "System Tools" to bring it back to the state prior to the update ?

It would be your best bet .

Reverting back to IE6:
Go into your Start menu, click on Control Panel, click on Add / Remove Programs.
Look for IE7 in there, it might be under an "update"
If it's not in there, look on the left hand side of the Add / Remove Programs window. Look for Add / Remove Windows Components.
See if you can find it in there.
Choose to remove it and when it's done restart your computer.

If you can't find what I'm talking about above, and the IE7's a recent change (less than 2 weeks) you may be able to revert your computer back to "normal" by using XP's "System Restore".

System Restore is badly named, it should be "Program Reverting". Click on these in order (yes, it's buried)
Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore.
Choose to try to roll back your computer and click [Next]

Click on dates and see if you can find the day that IE6 was "Upgraded". Choose the day before that one and click next.
Your computer will reboot, and it doesn't always work the first time.

You won't lose any personal files.

While I'm here, I'd like you to try an alternative to IE - it's called Firefox. Try it for an hour a day, for a week. If you find you kinda like it, take a look around at the add-ons site. What's possible with Firefox can be mindblowing.

Let me know if you have any questions,
Amanda

Here's a link for Firefox - http://getfirefox.com/
And there's lots of help out there... it's a side effect of Firefox being so open and well liked.

Go to control panel then add/remove programs find IE7 and click remove. It will revert back to IE6 with no problem.
