Which of the following is correct sentence?

1. My friend went to the Queen Mary hospital.
2. My friend went to Queen Mary hospital.

I would say, "My friend went to Queen Mary Hospital," without the article, but with Hospital capitalized. If "Queen Mary" is the name of one specific hospital, it is a proper noun, so it does not take an article, but all the words that make up its name must be capitalized.

I agree with Suzi for this case but there are some confusing cases, for example: the Empire State Building NOT Empire State Building; the Tate Museum NOT Tate Museum. Yet, in other cases we say no article: Heathrow Airport, Table Mountain etc.
