Has anyone ever had any experience of job posts being deleted in local government and asking it's employee's to re-apply for their jobs? What does this mean? Thing is it's not for me, just heard my old team have had this done to them. Is it quite likely they will get their jobs back as they are favourites?

That's because they already have someone in mind for the job. However, they still have to post new openings as a requirement. But they already have someone in mind so they suggest to the employee that they want, "why don't you apply for the position??" Trust me, opportunities aren't as what they say "oh, there are opportunities, you just have to apply for it".

That's not really true if the position is a high class executive job
