Pull up the zoning map for the school district online. Then get a zip code map that corresponds to those boundaries. As you search for homes, use the preferred zip codes first.

But remember, school districts constantly change zoning for elementary schools. And often realtors get the "local schools" wrong on listings. So it's up to you to verify which school may be in the zone you've found a home in.

If you trying to stay out of a school zone, such as a set perimeter away from a school zone, you should be able to do this with a street map and compass. Don't forget to count private schools.

Ask your Realtor to keep you in the same middle school.
