What your friend thought was a needed codec and he then downloaded it to watch some porn video, was actually a ruse. A scam if you will. It was not a codec at all. (The video would have played fine without that "Codec")! What he actually downloaded was a Trojan called "Zlob".
This trojan then "phoned home" and installed the "pop-up saying my compouter is infected" adware on your computer with out your knowledge.
Your computer has a Smitfraud infection now, which is a very difficult one to remove. Most "all-purpose" anti-virus and anti-spyware programs (such as have been recommended to you) can only remove the original Trojan Zlob which caused the infection and not the infection itself.
This Smitfraud infection usually requires a specialized removal procedure and removal tools. Here are 2 links for information and free removal software.

Unfortunately, new variants of this pest seem to be launched every few days, so the removal information that I gave you is always playing "catch-up". If the procedure won't work for you, keep checking back to the sites I gave you. In a few days they may have updated the procedure and / or tools.
And please, never download anything unless you 1000% know and trust from where you are downloading from! And tell your friend!

Kick your friend in the butt or spank him really hard. And next time he visits you, mix red chilli powder(no limits) in pumpkin juice and give it to him. Chilli powder will be available in Indian shops, if there is one in your locality, then no problems!!
Now coming to your computer, it seems that your 'friend' must have configured your McAfee to ignore these malware in future (if he has got a brain and not dung in his skull). So, go to McAfee's Ignore List and uncheck all items. Then scan again. Also, make sure that McAfee is updated. If it still fails to catch the malware, then you will have to go for a System Restore. Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System restore. Restore your Windows' configuration to a day when your computer was clean. This will make the registry keys of all the malware invalid and you can wipe them out with a good registry cleaner. You could get this freeware and run its 'issues' section for the purpose:
CCleaner : http://www.ccleaner.com/
Also, scan again with McAfee (update first, because System Restore will also remove the recent updates) to make things clear. Good Luck!!

I, too, recommend Spybot and Adaware.
Consider setting up a Limited account for other users: Windows XP allows you to set up Limited accounts for other users of your computer. Limited accounts have access to all programs on the computer, EXCEPT the personal files of the other users.
To set up accounts, click Start, Control Panel. In Classic view, double-click User Accounts. Click “Create a new account” and follow the wizard. You will be asked to create a name for the account. You will also be able to choose the account type. Under ‘Pick an account type,’ select Limited. Then click the Create Account button.
Limited accounts are not able to download anything from the Internet—including malware. Nor are they able to install software or hardware. That requires an Administrator account.

You can try backing up your importatant data and then formatting your pc as it will completely make your pc problem-free which none of the anti-virus software will. As for your friend , explain to him the problems caused and prevent him from using your pc again . Alternatively , u can do the same to him.
You may also add adware and spyware removal programs and get rid of them.As chances of these being on ur pc is higher than that of a virus.

Go to www.adaware.com. Do a free instalation, then you will have an item called Ad-Aware on your desktop. Click that and you should be able to scan your computer. After the scanning, you can erase all the critical objects and they should go away for good. I hope this answer was helpful to you! And good luck! ;)

There are 3 methods by using which the HIV virus can spread from an contaminated human being to a unique: a) by skill of semen, vaginal fluids or blood for the period of unprotected sexual sex with an contaminated human being; b) Sharing needles and syringes for intravenous drug use with an contaminated human being; and c) From contaminated mom to toddler even as pregnant, baby delivery or breastfeeding. see you later because the above occurs, transmission is achieveable, regardless of the truly volume of fluids exchanged. even as first contaminated, there's a era of time earlier the style of HIV antibodies in someone. it is large-spread because the window era, it truly is frequently between one to three months.
