Having more than 2 children contributes to an overall population growth. Because we are facing overpopulation on a global scale, yes, having more than 2 children contributes to the over-burdening of the planet. Having one or zero children would help to decrease the population to a sustainable level, and then people could go back to having two.

In my OPINION, the era of having 12 kids has passed. Not only because it is unnecessary, but it is also detrimental to humanity as a whole.

Having several children contributes to society. There have been several times in history when the world felt that there were too many people. It was popular in the 70s and before the industrial revolution, but it's never bore out. There are more people than ever now. On the other hand, some countries, like Japan, are worried becuase their population is shrinking. If you have fewer children and longer life expectancies, you end up with fewer people to take care of the elderly.

Not if you personally can support your own children to become active adults who contribute to society. That doesn't take anything away.

Several countries have a negative population growth...in otherwords they are not producing enough offspring to maintain their population, then they are forced ecomomically to increase immigration....the highest number being of muslim faith. Many other countries have way too much food and land to worry about over population...and since we can`t seem to get our collective butts together to get our surplus food to countries who need it the mortality rates for high birth areas like africa is staggering thus keeping even that place underpopulated for it`s area. So no the population crisis is BS. (Father of 10)
