Pressure. Holidays have become so commercialized! Consumers are made to feel as though buying everything in sight is the only solution. We are tempted with 'SALES'.

I agree that we as a society should save the money for any gifts that we buy, but some of us go into debt because it gives us a way to delay paying for something that will give us joy or satisfaction now.

We are an inpatient society. We dont want to wait and save for something we want. We are the fast food, drive-through, credit card using people! Younger generations (people my age) would rather put something on a credit card and have it now then save and have no debt. We want instant gratification.
