I don't necessarily think soccer will be skyrocketed, but I think it'll become more known. It may not gain as many fans as people who hear about it, but it will gain some from Beckham's marketability. Soccer is already successful, just not as successful as sports such as football or basketball. I don't think by bringing Beckham here soccer is going to overpass some of the big sports here, but I definitely think it'll receive more attention and hopefully a lot more fans as well.

Soccer-Football, I know for a fact the around the world, Football is the most popular sport, hence the name be taken to attract popularity for the American sport. (Should be handball, :D) Anyways, like someone earlier said, 3rd world countries play this sport because it is a way of making a living and having fun. Unlike an average Amercian kid, children from places such as Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico all play and adore soccer and dream of one day hitting the big leagues and earning some decent money. It's a dream even I have. And for some guy who said the didn't have soccer games on TV here, he obviously doesn't know much. There at least 3 American and more than 10 channels that have soccer. Fox is one and ESPN another. Check them out once in a while, will ya? Laterz.....

Football, baseball and basketball compete for fans, so soccer may never be as popular in the US as it is everywhere else in the world. However, many American children are now playing soccer, so perhaps in the (near) future there will be more appreciation for the game.
Americans view soccer as a boring game because of the low scores, but once they learn to understand the intricacies and skills of the players they may reconsider. Beckham may change things for a while like Pele did.

It should be soon time if North America starts buying more players fromt Europe its will be known as a great sport. Soccer in North America to the Premier Leagues could be comparing the CFL to the NFL.

Probably not. Unless the US starts doin better in world compotitions the answer is going to be no. David Beckhams comming to the US will have a significant effect on the US soccer population. but unless we do better or get better people to play here the answer will be no.

Beckham won't get it done... it will take millions of kids growing up and playing the sport, then turning into adults and wanting to watch it. I don't think it will be even as popular as hockey for at least the next 20 years.

With David Becham coming to US, it will give soccer a jump start, but it will be a long ways until it matches other parts of the world.
