We live in this real world. These are not the age old days of hermits or saints. We all have some desires all the time. The question to ask is, is there any limit for these desires. The moment you have satisfied one, we have another ten raising their ugly head. All our life we are struggling to win this unwinnable race.In fact, this is the prime cause of all crime in this world. Some one has beautifully defined "happiness' mathematically. He says it is a ratio of [total wants you can fulfill]/[total wants you have]. suppose you have no wants.ie zero wants. Hurrah you have achieved the ultimate. Infinite happiness. The key for us lies in taking life, one day at a time and do all activities well, but with a sense of detachment. Then we are on the process to control and minimise our desires.

If you believe in the Lord, then read up! Check out the consequences of the actions you discribe in your question. I think you will change what you do with the time spent on this earth.

The only answer that you should except is to give service to others this will bring you heart and mind into Harmony. Jesus has said if you do unto the least of me you have done unto me. I think that's close but not exact.

all of what you mentions is part of loving ourselves. as long as you don't become materialist or greedy is nothig wrong with desiring the best for one self. God tell us in teh bible to love our fellows brothers and sister as you lover yourself too, so make sure you are charitable with thos in need. love an respect those around you. adn thank god for your blessings

Get your priorities straight and in order and praying and reading your Bible..... God has to come first in your life then other things will fall into place where they belong.

Well if you love those things more than God then you need to re-examine your priorities in life.
