HA! Kidding! The basic principles behind the internet were created by the US Military when networking satellites/radar systems together...back in the early 60's/Cold War days. It evolved from there.

The US military started the internet I think. However the world wide web which is what most people mean by "the internet" was conceived by a British scientist called Tim Burners-Lee.

The internet was invented in the midle of Cold War to USA governanment. They invented the net to get in contact with URSS more fastly. But the net in that time was so lazy. After Cold War the universyties in USA could use it, and so in a few time people discovered net until nowadays.
