shaq is the leading vote getter for center in the east and has only played 4 games?!? why are people so dumb?!?

All star voting is pointless in every sport. Look ROMO made it to the probowl and he only played 4 games prior to the selections.

I agree with the first poster that the voting is more of a "pick your favorite" as opposed to what it shoudl be which is pick the best players at that point in the season. Shaq shouldn't be starting for the east. I would vote Jermaine O'neal or Dwight Howard over him. Hell, I would put Ben Wallace over him because at least Wallace is playing. The real sad thing is that the players that are improving and really playing at a high level never get recognized and voted as starters.

The all star game is played for the fans, people vote for their favorite players so that they can see them match up with the best from around the league. I agree though that some players although deserving do get left out of the game despite their worthy efforts.

I think it is but the NBA is trying to give the fans what they want. By putting big stars that havent played as many games as players that have and deserve it they let the fans decide so they actually get some people to the games.

this is what happens when you let the fans vote. couldnt believe in michael jordans last last year vince carter had more votes as a starter than mj when vince hadnt even played at all that season and mj at 40 was averaging nearly 20 points per game. what happens is they let little kids vote and they vote for popular players and not the good players. hell i would vote zydrunas illgauskas in over shaq or even the other oneal, jermaine. i think when stuff like that happens. its time to take the voting out of the hands of the fans and let the players and coaches pick.

i always thought it was stupid...why do u think Yao Ming always has 3 times as many votes as anyone else? cause there are more people in china than any other country & they all have to vote for him. and most of them prolly only know of Yao, and no ther players, so it screws up the whole ballot.
