It may be that she has eggs...it may be that she has a disease. She may also be constipated. Especially if you feed her only flakes. You can try to feed her frozen peas (thawed and pop the shell off) Or romaine lettuce (ripped into tiny pieces) or even frozen brine shrimp.

To begin with, you should not be keeping the female with the male. The only time a male and female betta should be together is when they spawn (breed) and then should be separated as soon as they are finished.
I can tell you without seeing any pictures that the male is the problem. If the female is not carrying eggs and ready to spawn he will harass her to death. Leaving her with him is a death sentence for her.
The open wound is now a doorway for infection. Get some "Stress Coat" (helps replace the slime coat) and fungus medication (two different products) and move the male to a tank of his own so he will not continue to attack the female. Dose the female's tank with each product according to the directions on the packages to help her fight any infection that tries to take over.
If she is already weakened by the stress of the continual attacks by the male you may not be able to save her. If she is still eating, give her some good high protein food such as frozen brine shrimp, black worms or red worms. Good luck!

CONGRADULATIONS around the anal fin if u see a white dot and the belly is bloated it would mean ur female siamese fighting fish is pregnant . if u want to have a successful breeding keep on reading
the white dot on the bottom of ur female siamese fhgitng fish signals that it is pregnant or ready to become pregnant. since its bloated im assuming it is pregnant. if u see a nest of bubbles with the male fish constantly going to it and expanding on it it means ur male is ready to breed also. when its time ur male siamese fighting fish will nip on ur female fighitng fish and chase it until the female siamese fighitng fish is right below the bubble nest then the male siamese fihgting fish will literally wrap around the female fish and squeeze it unitl eggs come out. then the male will take the eggs and place them onto the bubble nest. after the female is squeezed i suggest u take it out of the tank and place it in a seperate one because the male will kill the female. about a day later the eggs will hatch. dont remover the male siamese fihgitng fish yet because hes not dont yet. the hatchlings will constanly fall out of the bubble nest and the male siamese fighitng fish will have to constanly take it by the mouth and replace it back onto the nest. but when the hatchling can finally swim freely sperate the male siamese fihgitng fish from the hatclings. im not sure uwt to feed them but u could find the answers at google search.
p.s. just in case the female beta may not be pregnant send ur pics to my email

you dont ought to purchase yet another tank in simple terms visit walmart or petsmart and purchase a gold fish bowl and she or he should be at liberty that way she will be able to eat and don't be disturbed about gettin attacked! If a lady that wasn’t ripe, or waiting for spawning, ought to have entered a adult males tank, it’s possible that she ought to’ve been attacked, as non-ripe women are literally not tolerated interior the area of the nest. by technique of not fleeing, a lady exhibits her readiness to spawn. sure, some situations if you're actually not careful at the same time as attempting too breed bettas, the male will attack the female and he can injure the female, the girls are a lot smaller than the adult males. A Male and a lady: interior the wild, women stay sparkling of adult males, except for the time of mating. at the same time as cohabiting in tanks, adult males ought to kill women, and are commonly saved aside until eventually (a) they are juvenile siblings, (b) they are breeding, (c) there's a partition, or (d) the tank is sufficiently large for the female to flee attack. commonly, earlier breeding, breeders use the kind of field to let lady exhibit without risking damage by technique of the male. 2 or extra women: Bettas are literally not practise fish, yet in a tremendous tank with many hiding areas, lady bettas can cohabit. at the same time as 2 women percentage a tank, one frequently bullies the different, notwithstanding, 4 or extra women will set up a hierarchy permitting non violent co-existence, although, women living in community should be monitored for aggressive women.

Male betta build bubble nests, and the females lay eggs. Betta females don't carry live young or get a swelled belly wen they have eggs ready. I suspect that the male is simply beatng her up. Males and females can't be kept together. The males are simply too aggressive.

ok few things. do you mean her stomach is just fat or theres an injury? if shes getting podgy it will be eggs and nothing to be concerned about unless she's acting oddly (lethargic, not swimming right).
if she's in with a male, get her out sharpish. they will bully and shred each other to death if one or the other aren't in the mood to get it on. they should only be in the same tank together for a max of a day or so when they are breeding (which is a tough task and needs to be researched and planned for several months in advance, and a good year or so planned ahead before you go ahead with it).

separate your bettas. female bettas can live with other female bettas but not males. the male could be hurting her. there would be signs of fighting like shredded fins.
your fish could have swim bladder disease which you can give it peas cut up for food -- hold them with tweezers on the top of the water until she finds it.

is she in a big tank or a small one just meant for one? I would take her to the local petsmart, they can pretty much diagnose anything and give you the right medicine if that is what it takes.
