you might have to ask your grandparents what they did, but I can give you some of the things I did. (I was 7 in 50, and 16 in 59)

Until we could afford our own TV, we watched Howdy Doody and Death Valley Days at a neighbors. The whole family went to my cousins to watch Ed Sullivan on weekends. (cousins had a train and we spent a lot of time playing with that)

At home we listened to the radio, Roy Rogers, Gene Aultry, Only the Shadow Knows, and more that I can't remember. The radio wasn't the kind you know, but rather a large cabinet with lots of dials that few understood.

We also went to a movie every Saturday night (with family) and on occasion to a matinee with friends.

We walked or rode our bikes, took our sleds to any hill that wasn't bare of snow in the winter, had snowball fights, and built snow forts. We spent a lot of time outside as long as it was light, and played hid and seek when the sun went down.

Family get togethers, board games, and listening to music (records not CD's) were also pastimes.

I hope this all helps. I've put a website here. It has some history of the 50's and the problems of that time.

There are websites that tell you about the 50's, 60's, 70's and so on. You can look them up in your computer browser.

Things haven't changed that much.
Movies, TV were big then. TV was getting started.
Baseball was the most popular sport.
No iPods so we listened to the radio or played records.

We watched b & w tv (until 1954).. we dated...we worked on making our cars faster...we went to drive ins and hung out...we tried to get laid. Pretty much the same as now, but not as much fun.
