Congress cannot reverse last week's decision to send 21,000 more troops to Iraq, President Bush said in an interview intended to rally popular support for his plan.

"Frankly, that's not their responsibility," Bush said in an interview on the CBS News program "60 Minutes," which aired Sunday.

"It's my responsibility to put forward the plan that I think will succeed. I believe if they start trying to cut off funds, they better explain to the American people and the soldiers why their plan will succeed," the president said.

Asked if he believes that he, as commander-in-chief of the armed forces, has the authority to order troops to Iraq in the face of congressional opposition, Bush said, "In this situation, I do, yeah."

"I fully understand they could try to stop me from doing it," he said. "But I made my decision, and we're going forward."

He said Iraqis should be thankful for all the United States has done for them since the invasion nearly four years ago.

"I think I am proud of the efforts we did," Bush said

It really is interesting as an outsider looking in how clearly battle lines are drawn over Bush. Supporters of Bush say that if you don't support the President, you are anti-American. If you don't have a better idea for Iraq other than "cut and run" to shut up. No offense to either view but the whole invasion was based on faulty intelligence. To continue sending more troops in when the entire premise was eroneous makes sense to pro Bush people? Cut and run may seem like the wrong thing to do but if you are there for all the wrong reasons, then getting out now seems to me , to be the responsible thing to do.The sign of an idiot is to keep doing the same thing and expecting a different result. Cut and run may seem to be a bitter pill to swallow but to keep adding to previous mistakes by doing the same thing has to be easier to swallow. Those troops could be added to the ones hunting for Bin Laden because, after all, isn't that who Bush's "War on Terror" was supposed to be directed at. Sadaam deserved his fate, I'll never argue that, but North Korea has a loonie in power, Iran, Venezuala to name a few more. Democracy at gunpoint is not democracy. To make the continued loss of your troops a "Party" thing, Dems vs.Repubs serves no one, especially not your troops. Can any of you not take a step back and see that? You have done some great things as a Nation, you've come a long way in 200 years. Just because you have the biggest guns doesn't make you right. England had the bigger guns in 1775, they weren't right either.

there exchange into no attack on Pakistan so do not teach all the lack of knowledge. President Obama is doing what he promised ... he's doing what Bush would desire to have achieved today after 9/11 if he exchange into rather intense approximately going after Bin Ladin and removing Islamic fundamentalist terrorism. The Afghanistan/Pakistani border is the place Bin Ladin remains holed out with the Taliban training a sparkling lot of youthful extremist muslims with hate against the west interior the madrassi faculties in this section. If Bush and his incompetent cronies had focused on doing this interest appropriate as a exchange of bobbing up much greater hate from the mess they made in Iraq the full international could be a safer place!

President George Bush is an accomplished man.

He graduated Yale, flew fighter jets and ran a successful major league baseball team.

He was governor of Texas and was re-elected by a wide margin.

He won acclaim from liberals for his ability to work with them.

It wasn't until he reached the poisoned air of Washington DC and the National Liberal Biased Media that he suddenly became the liberals favorite enemy.

Now that he is facing the insanity from liberals on a daily basis, it is more evident than ever that he is a great President.

And what is the problem here?? Did you see a plan submitted to him by the demo's offering a different solution besides the cut and run because that isn't an option. No, they didn't submit one thing, not even a bad plan so whats your beef. Your beef should be with your party who has taken control of congress and refuses to act. By the way, they were the ones who actually started the idea of the surge, I beleive it was with demo reid. But Bush is the Commander in Cheif, he gave your party a chance and just like I expected, they blew it. To bad.

As Commander-in Chief he does have authority. It's a shame how he lives in his own little bubble world. I don't know anything else to say except that he's doing what he is told by the ones makeing millions off this war.

Your Opinion:
No one has given him any concrete suggestions. The Liberal world only wants to Pack up and Run away...That is not an option nor a solution.
So untill your side can come up with a REAL IDEA, we will do as our Comannder in Chief sees fit.

Bush is so out of touch it's mind boggling. He was elected to represent the people - not to make it up as he goes along.
