I think it's when you run around a shot (for eg- normally a backhand) and hit it with a forehand. It's generally an aggressive shot with a lot of top spin and speed

if you are a righty and your forehand is on the right side of the court, but you move in such a way that you hit a backhand. just by standing more to the double alley you play a backhand. and the same thing for inside out forehand instead of hitting a backhand you move more to the ally and hit a forehand.

like the first post-er said, it is when you run around a shot. Like if a ball was coming to your left and you are a right-handed player, that would be your backhand shot. but if you run around it so the ball is coming to you from the right, it would be your inside outside forehand. I don't think you get any particular spin from it but our coach used it as a practice drill to get your feet moving. very helpful. have fun!
