If you get it for like below 10 G's ...go for it...Chevy uses the same parts for the Monte Carlo and Malibu...so you can always get something replaced...maybe put a base model Vette engine in there...the possibilities are endless but the only thing I worry about is the condition of the chassis...the mechanics were probably maintained well...they got mechanics or get deals at shops...I would worry about repainting and even trying to make it ..not look like a cop car.

The Impala is a very good/safe car. Its American made, so in the event it does need repair, the parts are reasonably priced. Compare starters, alternators, exhaust, brakes etc to foreign cars, such as Honda and Toyota and you'll be much happier with the Chevy. Not to mention body parts. First cars tend to dent...

They sure do have some ugly hubcaps. I would only buy a lower mileage one. Sometimes the chiefs or the detectives cars are very nice.
Some of the police departments run the cars 24/7 and they are BEAT to heck. Go drive it, and see if it stinks inside and if things work OK first. Have a mechanic check it out.

The problem with buying a used police car, even though I'm sure they're maintained well, is the fact that it has definitely been beat on. Think about how hard it has been driven, constantly. On the scale of used cars, I'd put a used cop cars reliability right behind "street racer". Good luck though.

I would stay away from it. Consider the unusual wear and tear that a police vehicle goes through as opposed to normal wear and tear on a used vehicle driven under normal circumstances.

You can and will find a vehicle that will better suit your needs. Keep searching.

my suggestion to you is do not buy it. the police dept here where i live had one and it got retired at 140,000 miles and they did not get another one it had all sorts of problems. from what the police told me it is not designed for the kind of heavy usage it gets as a police cra so it did not hold up very well.
