my old dial up connection keeps coming up and it takes about 6 clicks to get rid of it, but then it is back again after a few mins. How do i stop it showing up

sorry for hijacking your post Pat, but im having same problems so tried Chucks way

tried this Chuck but there is no instructions to do what you said, just country?

1. Click on Start
2. Click on Control Panel
3. Click on Network and Internet Connections
4. In the left hand window pane click on the My Network Places link
5. In the left hand window pane click on the View Network Connections link
6. Click on "Advanced" in the Menu bar
7. Click on "Dial-up Preferences" from the drop down menu
8. Select the AutoDial tab
9. Remove the checkmark by the connection listed in the scroll box
10.Click on OK.

You probably have your dial-up as your default connection in your IE "connection settings". To change this to broadband click Tools then Internet Options then Connections highlight your dial up and click remove.
If you have done all this make sure that you have removed the telephone (cable) connection from your computer.
If you do remove any cable from your computer insure that the computer is switched off first.

1) Access the properties of your browser (i.e. if you're using Internet Explorer rightclick and hit properties)

2) click on connections.

3) click on never dial a connection, click apply and ok...

4) you should be fine after this.
