i have a 13 year old son who has a hard time letting his step father help him in anythnig he does.our son has a i dont care attuite and we cant figure out how to get him apast that,we try doing lots of things with the boy. but when he dont get his way he gets grounded like any other child.and then one thing leads to another and he dont care. he has been lying and steeling .smoking be hind our backs .he knows we cant hit him and when he is grounded he dont care .i dont think he will get to play with any friends from school as he is grounded so much..any one can you give me some tips..

Sounds like your son needs to start growing up. Tough love as you have been demonstrating sounds like the right course of action. Be there when he falls over. Good luck!

He's a teenager and that age, yes, things will be difficult. I'd say in a case like this, to have the step try and back away from helping him only because it sounds like it's creating more aggravation than helping. Stay consistant with discipline. He's in the age where he thinks he's "invincible" and wants his freedom and thinks he knows it all. My guess is it won't get any easier due to age, habit etc...just try and do the best you can; he doesn't have that much longer to go before he's on his own and has to answer to his own mistakes etc.

absolutely normal for a teenager. and he doesn't need to love his stepfather. so what do u want from a poor boy? just love him
