Me and my husband went to the local Hollywood Video store last week and asked if they had "The Adventures of Priscilla - Queen of the Desert". They said they didn't, but then they did an about-face and told us that it was rented out until Tuesday, and to come after that. Several days later, we went to the video store and they said, "We don't have any movie by that name." I think we were being discriminated against (although we're straight) because of the movies that we watch. Grrrr...

Person above me, get a life.

The clerk was probably really lazy or just had no clue what he was doing. Just march right back in there, push 'em down and tell him you demand your movie. Well, don't do that, but I definitely would insist that they fulfill they're customers' requests no matter what they are.

That happened to me at Movies Unlimited, they had the film in their catalog, the idiot guy just did not want me to rent it, so I persisted, and then I told him I would buy it, he said it was not for sale, so I went over his stupid head, I was able to buy it and the place went out of business after that, he was so homophobic, he used to try to flirt with me until he found out I like lesbian films, come on, you are running a business, isn't the customer always right? I stopped going there. He was sickening, anyway. Nobody seemed to like him, he was a homophobe, too. Ew!!

Maybe the clerk is a high school drop out and can't figure out the system to tell if they have the movie or not. Try Blockbuster on line.

Perhaps, but I doubt it.

More than likely, the store clerk was lazy (pretty much what everyone else said) or misspelled the title of the movie in their database

Depends on what city you live in, but sounds like the clerks at the store could just be lazy

I'd say it's more about assinine service than discrimination. I've had people do pretty much the same thing over something that was in no way gay related, and when they had no way of telling my sexuality (and I'm a white male, so there's really not much other reason I'm going to get problems :-/).

Just the Ignorant high schoolers who take AWAY jobs from people who need them.

Highschoolers do NOT belong in ANY workplace until if there is someone 18+ who wants/needs a job at the place they are working.

I would just take my business elsewhere. Did the clerks even look the movie up on their computers? Based on your explanation of the situation it doesn't sound to me like the clerks are homophobes, it just sounds like they didn't feel like doing their job properly.

sounds like a bunch of punks are having a good time messing around with you all. I would let them know - and find a new video store.

I'm guessing this was some young kid working there? my best guess is they had no clue about the movie, and were just too lazy to find out.
