My job is a bit different, if there are guests due in I have to stay to make sure they get to the right meeting room and their host has been contacted etc, so I can only leave early on the occasions when I have permission to, I would and could get sacked for leaving my post.

I do if my boss is on hol or i know he wont be in before finishing.
Five mins makes all the difference when you are trying to beat the traffic.
