omg, yes!! My girls are grown now but when they were little, yes.
I still worry about them when they are driving some place alone.
I would worry about a mother and father that didn't worry about their children. There are so many things you can do to help put your mind at ease a little. Get their finger prints done, have a secret pass word that only you and kids have for anyone picking them up. Teach them that people that are bad look like everyone else. Teach them to never offer help to anyone looking for a lost puppy or directions. I never let mine go to the restroom by themselves. Call your local police and ask for suggestions. Also if they are old enough the D.A. R. E. program is great. Enjoy them.... they grow up sooooo quickly.

no Watch bowling for Colinbine there is a guy who did lots of studies showing how safe it is now compared to the 60's and 70's and how unsafe we feel. So few kids get adbucted yet the news coverage of such is so great that we feel unsafe. The chances of lightning striking your child is 1,000 times greater than him being abducted yet you do not fret about that why? It is because of the 100000 people who get struck by lightning a year the news coverage is only local and a single day and the 5 abductions a year get national news coverage and for weeks on end. The news media does this to keep you inside afraid to go out so you watch nmore tv give them better ratings. The only place that you do not hear bad coverage of is the really safe malls they tell you about. So you buy the products that they advertise on theur shows. Think about the weather coverage that they gicve you. They always show just the worst possible scenario of the track of a storm so that you stay inside and watch more TV. Did you know that there has only been one case of tainted Halloween candy in the United States and that one was traced back to a relitive of the person who was harmed? Yet the news media spends hours a day telling you to have your candy screened, it is so unsafe theese days, and that many "concerned parents " take their kids to the safe malls to Trick Or treat now a days.

Yes. I do quite a bit. I never let them walk to school alone even when the school was right across the street from our house and we lived in an upscale Dallas neighborhood. We now live in rural IL and I am not quite as concerned, but I still watch them get on the bus and do not allow my 7 year old son to go in a public restroom without his father or myself. You just can't be too careful these days!

I do, but I can't obsess over it or I will never let my child do anything out of my sight. It is a big, bad world but just making sure that your child is aware of it is the key.
We can't prevent anything and there are some sick psychos out there, but educating them is the best that a parent can do and hope that if a situation ever arises that our child will know what is best.

Of course any parent would but you have to teach them from the beginning on what to do about strangers,if you dwell on it the child would ever been able to do anything or have any fun, I want my kids to know that there is both out there good and bad and not to be afraid of living life.
