Pure ignorance. They believe that this makes them a man. All it does is show that they are basically stating "I'm a loser and I can't amount to anything else in life so I have to support the killing of innocent people, drugs, and violence."
It shows that they truly are nothing but animals and should be locked up.

to show that they are tough enough to be associated with a gang. although there is no main reason. some people join a gang because it gives them a sence of belonging. there is also some glorification in the street and gang life because of rap songs and videos and people just think that it is a glamorous life because of that but they arent able to see what realy gos on in a gang and on the street.
