When I was pregnant, all 3 times, I knew the baby had hiccups when I felt my whole body jerked gently several times. And the first kicks of the baby just felt like little pecks in there. I was 16 when I was pregnant the first time and no one had ever told me that babies kicked in the uterus so when I first felt it, I thought I was feeling its heartbeat!!. But later on......Now THAT'S a different story!! Anyway, congratulations!!

OK, basically the difference is the frequency and also the rhythmic pattern. Kicks will be all over the place, but hiccups usually stay in the one area, and feel kinda like a twitch.

Not sure if this has helped :-s

My daughter got the hiccups all the time when I was pregnant. Although hiccups can be sporadic, there is usually more than one and generally a rhythm to them. I don't care how smart your baby is, they don't have that much rhythm when they kick you. Also, if you get an ultrasound, you'll be able to see where your baby is lying in your belly. After wards you'll be able to detect if it was an arm or leg jab - or just a hiccup.

i just had a baby 5 months ago, and he had hiccups at least 3 times a day, very annoying. It feels like a steady heartbeat, but slower than a real one. it has a couple seconds in between each other.

Hiccups are rythmic bump bump bump bump bump bump bump that don't let up for like 5 mins LOL. Now that i'm in my 36th week they are so strong the hiccups shake my belly and go on an on an on an on, they are soooo cute... until your trying to sleep, then they're just annoying :)

Kicks were more sudden, hiccups lasted longer and were steady and paced. Turn-overs are alot of fun! And my son "shivered" once in awhile, too. Congratulations!

Hiccups will be regularly spaced, the kicks will not.

WHEN MY BABY HAD THE HICCUPS, IT WAS A CONTINUOUS JUMPPY FEELING. I WOULD FEEL ONE, THEN ANOTHER, THEN ANOTHER. AND IT WAS DEEP INSIDE. WHEN SHE KICKED IT WAS MUCH HARDER FEELING AND I FELT IT MORE ON TOP OF MY BELLY.
