There are shortcuts for answering math questions.I will example one technique to you.If you want to square a number within 3 sec, follow my method
ex:
35
add 1 to 3
it becomes 4
multiply 4*3
it becomes 12
and multiply 5*5
it is 25
so answer is 1225.
Got it?

multiplication is the timetaking part of maths problems.
others have told u the method to square no.ending with 5.
let me tell u an easy method to multiply double digit numbers.
example : 97*96
take 100 as reference number.
97 is 3 less to 100.
96 is 4 less to 100
97 96
3 4
subtract diagonally.
97 - 4 = 93
or,96 - 3 = 93
multiply 93*100 = 9300
multiply 3*4 = 12
add 9300 + 12 = 9312.
verify ur ans by actual multiplication.
a fast way to do multiplication. u can also take any round figure as the reference number.
example2 : 32*36
take 30 as reference number.
32 is 2 more than 30
36 is 6 more than 30
2 6
32 36
add diagonally.
32 + 6 = 38 or
36 +2 = 38
multilpy 38 with30
product is 1140
mul 6*2 = 12
add 1140 +12 = 1152
check the answer urself by actual mul.
thus any round figure can be taken as reference no.if the number to be mul is greater than reference no.,add the numbers diagonally and write the nos below.
if the no is less then, add the diagonal nos.
if the no is less, subtract it diagonally.
i hope this helps.keep practising

this method is applicable only when the unit digits of the two numbers add uptp 10 and the numbers of the tens digit are the same
34 * 36
it is 1224
6 * 4 = 24 and 3(3 +1)=12 so the answr is 1224
similarly to find the sqaure of a number which has five as the unit digit
(15)^2 =225
1(1+1) =2 and 25 in the end... 25 is in the end
(35)^2 =1225
3(3+1) =12 and 25 in the end

in squaring 2 or more digit numbers that ends with five, consider the digit left of 5 and multiply it to the 'digit left of five + 1' then place 25 after the answer
e.g. 35^2
3*(3+1) = 12
1225

1. If a/b = c/d, then you can "cross multiply": ad = cb
2. Replace x^2 - y^2 with (x+y)(x-y) anywhere you see it.
In general, though, you're better off not using shortcuts, as they will only confuse you.
