I hate this statement, it's so overused, and it's so not true.
I need a good retort.

Say back: "The spirit of what you say is true...that far more is possible than most people believe. It doesn't help to be pessimistic and small-minded about what's possible. But if you want to succeed, you need to be both optimistic and realistic. Some things aren't possible now, or ever. No one is ever going to grow younger until they are an infant again. A house will never recreate itself from ashes. And a paraplegic will never play for the NBA. It doesn't help to be unrealistic. Focus on the myriad possibilities within your own limitations."

Oh come on, its a powerful statement and somewhat very true. Retort with a saying you do like and leave it at that.

Just keep adding "Thats what you think" after his comment. And dont forget the "I know something you dont" look with the appropriate sly smile! If asked for explanation of what you mean, simply keep smiling...

Well i would agree with them, i mean if things were impossible, they wouldn't have been invented in the first place,so they must be acheivable, just to who is willing to pursue them. Sorry if that sounded complicated!!

Sometimes things happen that are out of our control, but you can think positively and hope.

Quit responding to requests with the phrase, "That's impossible." Or, "No one can do that."
