definately emotional attention. Sometimes when he's telling me what he's gonna buy me I just want to yell "how about you turn off your cell phone and ignore your job for a day, instead?"

That depends on the situation. On a daily basis, the attention is much more important to the strength of the relationship. However, on my birthday I definitely want money and gifts!

Emotional attention cos i would hate to be recieving money and gifts all the time, i like to know he actually care about me and not just giving me stuff to keep me quiet.

Neither if I am honest. I would prefer quality time. I suppose emotional "attention", for want of a better word, would be part of it but what is better than the gift of unmeasured time?

Things are just things. Eventually, they wind up in a garage sale or a salvation army box some place.
