You can't rush yourself into what you want to be. When you know it just hits you like a ton of bricks. I want to become a internet investigator to fight child predetors from soliciting minors on the net. Won't give details but I can tell you it's an experience that has changed my goals in life. Hope this helps. Good Luck :)

I took a walk around the academic departments at my school. Each department had a board depicting life/work in that career field. I went with the one I liked.

Nothing very complicated but it worked out for me. I think it's best to try and stick with something your interested in, but uou'll need to contrast fulfillment desires with your financial aspirations. Can you make enough to live on doing what you love?

If you make the wrong choice, try again, people often have more than one career in their lives.

Blessed is the man who does what he loves...

Before I embarked on my career, I asked myself what I liked to do best - in my case it was art (this could had been anything). I then looked as to jobs that I could do - art teacher, painter or whatever. I then took steps to get the training I needed so I could do it.

So for you... what are your interests and what do you like to do. Then think of what you wouldn't mind doing for the next 30 or so years. You can also break this down into smaller segments of time if your career has steps for advancement.

Good luck.

It was the thing I was best at, fit best with by personality, and actually paid a decent wage.

If it was up to me, Id be a historian, not an accountant.

Unfortunatley, starving doesnt sit well with me.
