I want to have a nice glow for my prom in May. I've never went to the tanning bed before and I'm only going to go to get a tan for prom so DON"T TELL ME I'm going to get skin CANCER! I'm not.....you have to overuse the tanning bed in order to get Skin Cancer.

So when should I start going to the tanning bed and for how long? I'm quite fair skinned as well...,

I am a redhead so I'm very fair skinned. I've never attempted to use a tanning bed because I know what it would do to my skin so instead I use creams when I want to look tan.

I have found a couple things that work very well. The first one is Jergens "Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer". They have different ones designed for different skin tones. I have the one for fair skin tones. This is a moisturizer that you use daily and it gradually builds your tan look. I use this on my face daily, but it can be used all over. The other is Neutrogena "Instant Bronze". It is a sunless tanner and bronzer in one. It also comes in different shades. This is a "night before" or so tanner. It gives you results in about 4 hours. It has coloring to allow you to see where you've already put it too.

Good luck. Hope this helped some and gave you another alternative.

I usually start tanning about a month before, I also use a body moisturiser with fake tan in it, to help build an even tan and so that I have to use a tanning bed less. Start on the minimum time, you wont notice any difference until much later so the next day if there's no difference you know you can go on for longer, then build up slowly. Lots of people make the mistake of going on for 10 minutes their first time and burn themselves badly, that is what causes skin cancer so make sure you don't burn!!

If it's only for a temporary thing though, why don't you get a spray tan? I have used them and they work really well, mine lasted about 3 weeks, was beautiful and even and no risk of cancer!

I would start in March. It will take about six weeks for your body to adjust to the use of the tanning bed. You'll use it increments starting with 5 min gradually increasing to 30 min. The people at the tanning place will guide you. Have you considered an Airbrush Tan? It's instant, UV free and lasts for about 5-7 days with natural results.

For your first time in the tanning bed. I would sugeet going 5 min to start or you will fry. Then work your way up. The tanning salon will tell you the same thing about how long to go. I would start in March. Have fun and good luck.

you will probably want to go a month before prom. don't go in the tanning bed your first time for 15 minutes. i would try 8 or 10. then work your way up to 15.

you wont seem orange.. JEESH! anybody is loopy.. in any case! lol go another day like 2-3 weeks earlier promenade. by technique of then you actual may have a tan and also you wont seem pink from not getting used to mattress. in case you want to, i continuously use a tanning lotion with a bronzer in it, it receives you want a extra "brown" coloration at times, yet make confident you position it on frivolously! have relaxing at promenade!
