I appologize if this is a commonly asked question (I rarely come on here) but does anyone know a good fantasy author? What I am looking for is, if any one had read, something along the line of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. Something like a fantasy world with more than one book.

Also, I have read all of Michael Crichton and Dean Koontz's books. Is there another author that uses their writting style? A story that catches your interest and keeps it until the end (besides Stephen King). They can be scientific like Crichton or mysterious like Koontz.

Thank everyone for any help they offer!

All great authors and all good books. One of my favorite books dealing with a fantasy world was "The Haunted Mesa." by Louis L'Amour. Traditionally he wrote great Western stories, but the Haunted Mesa takes you into a parallel realm. Give it a try one day.

Gatecrash by Gregory B. Kent

So far there are 2 book out. They are a great sci-fi fantasy romp.
The races are very different. Not like humans. The story grips you and you do feel for the characters.
The prologue in the first book is availble on the gaterunner website.
I hear the author is in the midst of the 3rd book.

You could try Bitten by Kelly Armstrong, it is the first book of the Women of the Otherworld Series, Moon Called by Patricia Briggs (the sequel is coming out in a couple weeks) and the Guardians of Time trilogy by Marianne Curley which includes The Named, The Dark and The Key.

Try these -- J.R.R. Tolkien (Lord of the Rings), Robert Heinlien, Anne Rice (Interview with a Vampire series), Anne McCaffrey, Terry Brooks. All of these except Anne Rice are sci-fi/fantasy authors, but all have several series books, and the reading is engrossing and hard to stop (you know, up until 3am when you need to go to work in the morning type of books) Hope you try them, and enjoy them as much as I have!!
