I've tried taking the battery out and bringing inside to warm it up and that didn't help. Is there anything else I can try other than having it towed to a mechanic?

Get the battery replaced and get some regular checkups done to flush out your systems.

Becareful when trying this method. You could burn your eye brows...

Remove the air filter and pour a teaspoon of gasoline into the throttle body.
Then crank the engine again.
Assuming your battery is fresh, the car should start fine.

If the battery is dead, you could use "Jumper cables" to try and start the car or buy a new battery.
