I went to the gyno and my obgyn pressed on my stomach......Then, she listened to my stomach with her stethoscope. I never had that done before.......Did any of you get that done when you were at the gyno?

totaly normal and routine- should be done by any good dr!
but next time you're at the dr (any dr) and want to know why they do the things they do ask them! You have a right to know from them what they are checking for.
Feeling abd is for a variety of reasons- checking for pain, checking for hernias, checking for organs, etc..
listening is for bowel sounds- making sure the guts are still moving properly
Sounds like your gyno checks up on more then just the girly parts- which is a good thing.

Yes, with the stethoscope and feeling your stomach, she can determine if there are any abnormalities.

yes he/she was just listening to your bowel sounds. some doctors may or may not do this. as you get older your ob/gyn will start adding different things to their exam, depending on their findings, just routinely, or just their own personal practice. This sounds like it's just part of their personal practice.

I think she was just listening to check on organs. Maybe to see if your bowels were moving, if perhaps you had a puffy belly.

Yes, it is part of the exam. just to make sure it's all good in there. she should've told you why she did it. Mine told me that if it cause pain to tell her right away, it helps check for cysts and stuff.
