Are there things you are doing to help keep his dream alive? Unfortunatley we still have ignorant people both black, white, hispanic, cuban etc... (not singling out any race, just stating people of all color can say and do horrible things)...but if we move beyond that as a people this world can be a better place. Ignorant people please don't respond...everything is not always a joke.

I don't celebrate Dr. King's birthday on on his birthday, I try to celebrate it all year long by being tolerant and non-judgemental of ANY one, not just people with a different colored skin than my own.

I agree about people being ignorant...I am white, but I believe in equality for everyone...unlike most of the whites that come up on this forum.

My son is 8 and has learned about MLK at school. I am hoping to be able to discuss his importance with him. Are there any specials on tv tonight? I want him to see the "I have a dream speech." I was at the mall in DC this week and couldn't help but wonder what it would have been like to have been there.

Schools suck at teaching people about the past...they just want you to memorize dates and names...So, it is up to us to educate people, no matter what race they are.

I am trying to make the world colorblind.

We need to eliminate any scholarships or awards that can be awarded to only one race. This is racist, and not being colorblind.

We need to eliminate affirmative action. This is keeping our society from being colorblind.

MLK wanted us to not see the color of each other's skin. How can we do this if an employer is made to hire a certain percentage of minorities. I say, if we get rid of these restrictions and TRULY become colorblind, then racism will cease to exist.

I ate some chocolate doughnuts. The white cake and chocolate frosting of them was like a sacrament to his dream and wish for our races to get along sweetly with eachother. Peace and love
