Count how many white holidays versus black holidays. Also try to remember everyone helped to build this country. Also take in consideration how soon we whites will become the minority.

Man are not always dishonored for their failings in the home.
Most great men to raise to power in this world are not always moral. So powerful men have not always been moral men.
He is being honored for his views on creating a peaceful solution to a violent problem. If someone in the gulf area were able to bring about a peaceful solution to that violent problem and come up with a political solution, I for one would be more than happy to give him a holiday.
His wife stood by him and that is between the two of them.
His children honor him, so what is the problem.
What he did in his sexual life isn't any of your business.
He is being honored for his political life.
Those Muslims have multitudes of wife's, King David had 900 wives. Yet we honor him and he is in the bible numerous times as being in God's favor. Not for his sex life but for his political career.

Only uptight people like you would really care, if what you claim were true! MLK was a great man, no matter what he might have done in his private life. Let he or she who is without sin or thoughts of sin cast the first stone. I hate hypocrisy--and racism in any guise or using anything as an excuse.

Many who are honored by country on set days, have had human frailities/faults.
These many times are overlooked for the sake of remembering the greater good they did during their lifetimes.
Just like anything else, if you wish to participate do - if not, do not ..... either way, many get an extra day off of work.

There are plenty of Republicans that have commited adultery or tried to screw under age pages, yet you blindly follow them. Why do you not say GW was an alcoholic and druggie, so why do we follow him?...What MLK did was brought attention to inequality...his personal life shouldn't take away from this.

Who knows... he seems like someone who make progress for our society. I do, however, think that having a national holiday named for him is a way too much. What a huge productivity hit. There were far greater Americans who dont have this honor.

At least he did some good for the world. My question is why is Kwanzaa celebrated? Ron Karenga (who started it in 1966) was a horrible human being who tortured women.

The same reason Rev. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are considered leaders. Some people yelled loud enough to make it so.
