I can stop pretty good on my strong side (being with my right leg in front). I just cant seem to get down stoping with my left leg in front. Do you have any tips or tricks on stoping with my weak leg? Am I extreamly slow or does it take some time to learn how to stop on the weak leg?

no - it just takes a LOT of practice and courage and TONS of falls to be able to comfortably stop on your "wrong" side. your leg is not weak - you must be right handed and therefore have a preferred leg. same thing with me. it took me lots of falls to get a left-leg-forward hockey stop. put on all of your hockey gear and go out and try it for an afternoon. or try it before the coach comes at practice. thats what i did!

You much shift your weight from leg to leg meaning put more power or strength on the stopping leg. Try taking some power skating lessons.

It just takes lots of practice. You can try dry land training by simply jumping towards that side as well....gets your body more familiar with the unnatural tendency your brain has.

As everyone says...practice, practice, practice.

Remember to spread your legs more at first to give you more stability, lean away from the stop and let your momentum bring you to a standing position.
