I am getting a saddle for my birthday in a couple of months and my mother would like me to start looking at options. I want a good, quality saddle that will last me a long time, but won't break my mom's pocket because we are moving. My mother told me that I can look at saddles that are under $700.00. Please help me! Thanks for all of your answers!

Wintec makes very nice saddles at a reasonable cost.
Some models come with what they call an easy change gullet system so you can change the size of the gullet in the saddle and it will fit on many horses or your horse as his shpae changes and as he tones up. It is a great feature. They also have a "cari" pannel system in some models and the padding is very moldable to the horse so thye fit well on the horse.
They are easy to care for and require much less work than a leather saddle and will last a long time. They are really a good saddle for the money and druable. The easy care is really nice to.

Schnieders Saddlery has some very nice english saddles. And as an added bonus, they allow you to lease or finance a saddle. I have leased from then and they do allow you to turn it back after a year and get another or buy the saddle out right. This may help your pocket book since you would not have to spend the whole $700 at once. This is the link to their website. Good Luck!

Pretty much any saddle that comes as part of a "package" is crap. Spend your $300 more wisely to buy a good quality used saddle. Girths and pads are pretty cheap, new or used, and you can use your western bridle with a snaffle bit until you can buy a real English one (or always, depending on whether you're planning on showing or not). Also most of the girths I've seen with packages are horribly uncomfortable thin web girths. You can buy a nice synthetic girth with fleece or neoprene for $30.

I have found Collegiate and HDR saddles are a good bang for your buck. You also might want to look into buying a quality used saddle.I bought a wonderful Stubben VSS for under $400 on eBay.Many recommend Wintecs but I personally prefer leather saddles.

Have a look at the lightweight options such as Wintec. They are not made of leather and you can just hose them down to clean them.
There are cheaper brands of a similar product but I can't remember what they are, sorry!
Don't forget to check saddles for sale on consignment at local saddleries or even put a 'wanted' ad in your local paper.

Wintec! THey hold up great, look nice and are somewhat adjustable to fit a variety of horses. Plus, they sit most riders in the correct position really easily. I highly recommend them for people like you who are on a budget, but want quality.
