There is nothing in the tax code that requires a company to pay you time and a half for a federal holiday that I know of.

It really depends on your company policy, they will state which holidays you will be paid for time and half or other amount specified. In my field, we don't get compensated for that. But I do believe that is the case

If you get paid for the holiday you get 8 hours holiday pay at your regular rate and if you work you get 8 hours regular pay which works out to double pay.

Technically unless the company considers July 5th a holiday, you only get straight time.

no, unless if its a day you normally arent scheduled and ur asked to come in, which would then be overtime and where you work could be time and half or 2 time and half

All depends on your company's policy or union contract. There are no laws that say you must as far as I know.
