I havnt noticed them fighting before and they have been in tank together for about 7 weeks.how can i stop them doing this?It isnt just at feeding time or anything like that its all the time.

goldfish aren't mean fish, are you sure that they are "courting"
males will pursue females, chase them all over the tank and
nuzzle them trying to get them to spawn

1 of my daughters fish was being bullied by a smaller fish,which was constantly chasing it,+ nipping its sides+ biting its tail+ fins,the bigger fish seemed stressed out.I got some good advice+ from the site below.I emailed the problem+ soon had a reply with instructions on what to do. Amongst other advice,1 to stop the bullying was to put a mirror in the tank.
Sounds daft,but worked.The 2fish are quite happy in the same tank now,no bullying.

Goldfish tend to be fin nippers. You probably want to put them in a separate tank and just put standard goldfish in with standard goldfish and fantails in With just fantails

Well goldfish is an aggressive fish so you should only put goldfish with goldfish or any aggressive fish to fight back

they are probably trying to say to them go away get lost this is my tank. if it gets to bad seperate them. Are the other fish bigger? or female?
