I got this Chinese pen set for christmas, http://www.hevnerwebdesign.com/CHINESE_PEN_SET.jpg , but it was missing the instructions. Anyone know what the parts are used for and how to use them? Thanks to all who answer.

Definitely! I have a few of these myself. The brushes have to be soaked in warm water to get the glue off them first before you use them. The little stone to the left is your inkstone, the black stick is your inkstick, and the tiny dipper and bowl are for putting water onto the inkstone. Here's a page that will show you how to do that without damaging anything:

The proper term is a calligraphy set, as pens never have a brush tip. Reed pens have been used though, and only in that case is it called a pen set. Those brushes are very small too--you can get them in all sizes. The ones in that set are for smaller writing or details in Chinese-style painting.

Hey Yvarg,

That looks like an old set. You might need to call on the experts at a fine pen store.
