My baby had this really bad when she was first born. Mylocon! It's for gas. You can give it to your baby at every feeding and it is perfectly safe. Also try not moving your baby around so much after the feeding. That can cause them to get an upset stomach as well. My mom taught me it's good to lay them across your lap and rub their back. Do not let your baby sleep like this... he/she is to young. Once your baby falls asleep or calms down just place your baby back on his or her back. I hope this helps. Try reading the websites below. They are really good.

You've already tried switching formulas so try getting your baby back onto only breastmilk. Take this weekend and spend it in bed or on the sofa drinking lots of healthy liquids and nursing your baby and using the breast pump A LOT. Be either nursing the baby or using the pump every two hours. The increased demand will cause your body to make more milk and make it easier to build up a supply of milk to store for your mother in law and get more when you pump at work each day. Check with a breastfeeding consultant for other ways to increase your supply as well. Maternity wards most always have one on staff and if you delivered there the consultation may be free. Pediatrician's are often completely useless when it comes to breastfeeding and formula issues. It's just not their speciality. BTW, generally babies do not need iron until they are 6mths old, and usually not even then if they are eating solids.

How do you know its belly ache?
May be something you're eating going through the breastmilk. Onions are common one. Also plums etc. Cows milk can also cause problems. You could try leaving things out of your diet for a few days (one item at a time) see if it improves. Maybe helped by a colic remedy, assume hes burping okay?
Good luck

possibles:

a. gulping in air....one solution of many is try not letting her cry a lot or let her calm before feeding. they ulp air when they cry. or she might just be gulping fast? My baby was like that, she would just CRYYY after HALF a feeding and would refuse to take anymore until she burped big..sometimes more than once. then shed calm and have more...my mom raised 4 kids and was surprised at this haha.

b. your diet. Are you taking care what you eat? anything remtely gassy might be too gassy for the baby. no broccoli, cauliflowers. beans, etc.

A home remedy i have heard people swear by: Since babies are very sensivite at this young age to mothers diet, here is what YOU (not baby) can do to help this. I did this on and off, but i know many people who swear by it. (including some colic babies moms). Boil some dill seeds in water. Let cool. Sieve and drink that water. its an anti gas natural drink and helps baby.

good luck.

Without knowing if there are any other symptoms it could be many things.

*Even breastfed babies need to burp. Burp after each breast. It may take 10 minutes for your little one to burp.

*Reflux/GERD-Your baby does not have to be losing weight to have reflux. On the contrary, many reflux babies actually overeat because eating eases the pain. Your baby does not have to be spitting up to have reflux. This is known as "silent reflux" and can actually be harder on your baby because their esophagus is getting burned by the acid on the way up and again when it goes back down. It's also a lot harder to recognize as reflux. Email me for a list of symptoms and how to treat it (My son has silent reflux)

*Oversupply-can cause baby to have stomach ache. Again, email me for a list of symptoms.

*Allergies/your diet-Common allergens: (I've stared the ones I've had to cut out of my diet)
Dairy products *
Caffeine – coffee, tea, soda *
Soy products
Peanuts
Shellfish
Chocolate (sorry!) *
Citrus fruits *
Wheat *
Chicken
Beef
Eggs *
Nuts
Corn *
Prenatal vitamins* (The iron may be irritating to baby. Ask your OB for an alternative if this is the culprit.)
Gassy vegetables:
Broccoli *
Cauliflower*
Cabbage *
Onions *
Green peppers
Tomatoes
I can also give you more info on diet and allergies for the breastfed baby-again, just email me. There is just too much info to put in this answer.

Your baby may be getting to much air in her tummy causing gas. Rub her belly gently to help her pass the gas. Also, I'm thinking maybe your diet is causing a problem with your milk. Check everything you're eating to see if it may cause a problem for your baby. Good luck.

Your little one is reacting to something you are eating. My 4 month old reacts to dairy, chocolate (dark), cinnamon, pineapple, and peanuts. His reactions vary from being fretful to having a belly ache to pure vomiting--different from normal spit up or reflux (he also has reflux). Once I figure out what he has had a reaction to (It shows up in my milk about 6-8 hours after I've had the food and might take longer or shorter amount of time to show up in your milk.) he improves.

It's quite possible whatever you're eating is in the baby's system and giving it gas. Or the child is just swallowing air as it breast feeds and may not be getting burped enough. Either way burp baby more often and offer to give the baby those mylicon infant gas drops.

The baby may also be having a reaction to something you eat. This is especially common if you diet includes milk, eggs and wheat. I suggest not eating these for a few days and see if the bellyache goes away.
