Use a roller for the bulk of the door surfaces, and a brush to trim in the rest.

Use both roller and brush...Whether the doors has been painted before or not, wood doors must be properly prepared before being painted. In general, this means filling any cracks and holes and then sanding the surface.

if there flat doors a roller will work but if there panel doors use both brush & roller use a good quality brush and roller too get a good result that one reason the guy you pay can do a good job

if the door has any accents or carved parts, paint those with a brush, but paint all the flat parts with a roller or you will get streaks.

go with the roller. you will get a smoother look and use a small roller around the hinges after taping them with painters tape
