Of course they are - look at the world's great scientists, reformers, academics etc etc. Now women will tell you that's because of sexism - but who was stupid enough to let sexism happen ? I rest my case x

Obviously not, no, and (like another answerer here, I wouldn't say the reverse either) but are you sure you *seriously* think this? Or are you just trying to be provocative? If you're serious, you will need to back up what you're saying with some examples so that we know what information led you to arrive at your generalisation. It would also give us some idea of the values you hold and the influence they might be having on your opinion.

PS: Fucose_man has added a source that backs up what he says about men at the extreme ends of the spectrum. However, the info on the Deary study appears to *contradict* what he says about men tending to have IQs that are 3-5 points higher and there is at least one statement in the text that still has "citation needed" in brackets.

PPS: My belief is that it wasn't "stupidity" that historically made women let sexism happen. It was our use value. By this I mean that our biological ability to have babies led society to assign us traditional roles that didn't readily facilitate the time to go out into the world (from that assigned domestic sphere) and excel within it. I would also say the way that men have traditionally accepted their roles *in the outside world* (often as full-time wage slaves) is an equivalent example. Do these examples imply stupidity? Or do they actually indicate that the values society holds have a powerful influence on BOTH sexes?

PPPS: Eurale says she finds other women "shallow and complex". However, synonyms of the word "complex" (under the main entry "abstract") include "deep" so I think this theory would need to be explained to hold any credibility. I also don't see the link between how "unusual" an answer is and the over-sensitivity of the answerer. I’d say "unusual" implies an answer goes against what is expected so, surely, in order to qualify under the standards Eurale gives, an answer from a female would therefore need to be rational and robust?

No i do not agree. behind every good man is the woman. I believe it is how you are bought up and schooling and street smarts . you can have a high IQ nerdy boi but to walk the streets of harlem he may not know sh-it. Women in war times as spies though have been more thourough then men. I think it is an individual thing dude. by the fact you said this your tunnel visioned and opionated and leaving no room for anyones growth and therefore, this is no respect to women. I have met many ethnic men of a certain middle eastern country here and they drive terrible all of them and their women who wear wigs (as they gave up their beauty upon marriage) are just as dumb about driving. I wouldn't say then all men and their wives in that religion or race suck at driving to discriminate them. Do you see what I am saying? all people have the power to be smarter than others or equal. Cripe in the olden kings days of past if you had a small forehead you would not be entered into the kingdom as they thought the size of your forehead meant your size of intelligence. It's categorizing. There's an old movie called 1 million years BC and the blondes were smarter but the brunettes were stronger so go figure. The point is they both teamed up as a whole made them more complete joining forces.

HELL NO!!!! I've got to say that men are thicker than women. Women can (I know it sound horrible, but it's what makes them more intelligent than men) manipulate men in a way that men think doing something was their idea in the first place.

Not only that, but I'm around women all the time at work, and I have never known a man to do HALF of what they do every day.

GO GIRL POWER!!!!

Men TEND to score about 3-5 points higher on average on IQ tests. However, the spread of their scores is usually broader - i.e. more men tend to be at the lower and upper ends (you find men are more likely to be retarded but also more likely to be geniuses).
Tests always carry some sort of bias. If you make a test based heavily on language abilities, women tend to do better. On spatial orientation, men do better.
There are very few rules, although one big exception: mentally rotating a 3D object in space in your head. Men SLAUGHTER women on this - almost ALL men, even otherwise stupid men, are better than almost ALL women, even geniuses, in this ability. Why? It is not certain. But it also goes along with the ability of men to usually be able to assemble something they haven't seen before better than women.

On average, the IQ scores of men and women are more or less the same.

Another reason might be that more men at the low end are more likely to be institutionalized in some way and are not out amongst the general public. This skews the average for your normal "man on the street" up a little higher than women.

EDIT: please do not confuse many of the things that we tend to lump together with intelligence, such as wisdom, judgement, foresigh, ignorance, etc. We call someone who makes poor decisions "stupid" but it's more accurate to say they are "foolish". Someone who doesn't know the name of the Queen of England is "ignorant" etc. These things have little to nothing to do with intelligence.

ooo someone is deviously looking to start World War III

Alright I am a female...er, THING so to speak and I may be in China but this thing is in USA so free speech etc etc

Women, I find to be shallow and complex ... cows most of the time.
Men seem to be obssesed with those women as are the women are obssesd with greedy arrogant men.

To some extent I find men have more common sense and are MUCH more straight forward

I like that

Thats why I am a girl, with no female friends

Actually research shows that men are more analytical than women who are in turn more cognitive than men. Men like to figure things out, while women prefer to do research. Because of that, hospitals see 34% more male accident victims from this "figure it out muh-self" attitude than they do women--who tend to read the directions. So if you believe that men are more intelligent than women because their analytical nature causes them to seek out effective was to solve things rather than to use the most obvious--solved already--method ,at all costs, I don't really know what to say to you. Personally, I'm going to keep reading the directions as unintelligent as that might be.

I have found that, generally, men like to think they are more intelligent than women.. and women let them think that they are because they can't be bothered with the tantrums!

Not really, i think men and women just think in different ways about different things. Not really a basis for comparrison as we behave so differently.
