I'm just wondering if a film/television writer can include himself in his own production, while he takes traing from an acting coach?

That is ultimately up to the casting and directing people. If you happen to be the writer and director, then you can typically throw yourself into a role (ie Whedon, Hitchcock, Tarantino, others). Other, more famous writers will also find themselves a place in their scripts (ie Stephen King). It requires a certain amount of talent, clout, and fame (or a combination of the three) to make it happen. It is much easier for those who have made their mark in one side of the industry to make an appearance in another.

Of course the writer can include himself in his film. It's done all the time. Woody Allen, Billy Bob Thornton, Quentin Tarentino. In the past Hitchcock appeared in almost all of films.

It's been attempted, and also has been accomplished, BUT as a writer you won't remain in control of your script for very long, unless you happen to be at the very TOP of your game.
