If the cleanser is alcohol based then yes, it will sting. If it hurts to much or you don't get the results you are looking for try a non-alcohol based cleanser. The alcohol usually is used to try the skin out eliminating oil and grease that might be on your face. However, if you don't have much oil then it can sting and will dry your face out.
I like Clean and Clear Morning Burst facial cleanser. I use it when I take a shower at night. It doesn't have alcohol so it doesn't sting, but it still gets the job done.

No, they are not supposed to sting. They are stinging because your skin is sensitive and irritated. You'll need to start using products that specifically say "for sensitive skin" on the bottle. Good luck. St. Ives has a sensitve skin cleanser and olay has a sensitive skin facial lotion.

It probably is working, you can tell from the sting, but it also is probably to strong for your skin. I have spent all kinds of money on face wash and I have found one that is so easy. I actually don't dread washing my face no more. It is ponds cream in a little jar. (the green one, not the blue one). You spread it on your face like lotion and then just towel it off. I have spent major money on face wash including proactive clinique and Ponds is less than $3.00 and works great! The blue one is lotion for your face, so if you have dry skin you could buy both.

No they are not supposed to sting.
Anything that you put on your face should feel nice.
I suggest you use something with no harsh chemicals.
If money is no object go for Decleor which uses all plants extracts. If you are on a budget use Simple stuff from Boots or Superdrug, non-perfumed brand. Good luck!

no - they are not supposed to sting - I would say if they are then they are too strong for your skin. I am a therapist and would use a cooling agent if you told me some product I was using was burning you! Use a gentle cleaser or one for sensitive skin. Ones containing Aloe or lavender are particularly good. Tea tree keeps spots and oily patches at bay.

Alot of them nowadays do. Read the labels and stuff. I used to use Nuetragena Cleansing cream and it tingled alot. It usually is either supposed to or it will say it somewhere on the label. But lotions are not supposed to. Try using a different lotion.

No, they should tingle lightly and feel clean, but shouldn't feel fiery.
Try a gnetler brand, or cleansing wipes instead - 'Simple' cleaning wipes are very good - I have sensitive skin and they're very soothing.
Try witch hazel and tea tree products too, and don't scrub them on, just wipe carefully with a soft cotton wool ball.

Anything labelled as "astringent" should have a slight "tingle". But actual "stinging" would suggest that the product is too strong for your skin.
