How far along are you? Towards the end, checking often can put you into labor, Im not sure how to succsefully check your cervix only your doc can do that for sure. If your close to the end, walk, have sex, and stimulate your nipples. That is what everyone tells you (I know) but its so true. I was stimulating my nipples and only contrating maybe once or twice so I thought nothing was happening. went to hospital for a back ache (though infection) and I was dialated to 5 cm. Good luck. Oh and yes after having a baby your cervix could be a cm or a little more dialated from the begining, good luck.

Checking your cervix forces bacteria up to where your baby is and can cause infection, this is why the doc doesn't do so many exams and he's wearing sterile gloves!

Some women sit at 3cm for weeks then have to be induced, so dialation doesn't mean anything.

I wouldn't be doing many more self exams unless you're dying for a C Section due to complication from infection. Your call.

The nostril feeling would desire to actual be your closed cervix. in case your cervix is closed you at the instant are not dilated in any respect yet. Please notice you could dilate interior the issue of an hour in case your physique so decide on. while washing your hands notice you have fingernails that would desire to be scrubbed below besides and if conceivable you will desire to continually placed on gloves. i'm honestly against self tests like that simply by fact i'm responsive to the hazards your putting your self in yet as least be secure while doing it.

I'm not sure checking yourself is a good idea nor would it be acurate. I've only had 4 babies but I haven't heard of anyone ever doing this. Just do alot of walking. My last one came fast fast fast. 21 minutes after arriving at hospital. Seeing as this is your 5th the doctor should have already told you to expect a very fast delivery.

I don't think you should check your own cervix. This is your 5th so you should know signs of labor. You can do more harm than good checking it yourself.
