Is it because their brains can't comprehend a draw? There HAS to be a result whatever?

It hasn't caught on because our athletes are spread out over so many other sports, mainly basketball and "American football". Most of our premiere athletes are fed into these two sports, making the pick for soccer players very thin. If our best athletes played soccer instead of basketball and football, we would be just as dominant as any other country. We improve every year in the sport, as it catches on and more people become interested and play, so hopefully we will be contenders by the 2014 Cup.

No, our brains can comprehend a draw. It might be that growing up, the big sports in school are football, basketball, and baseball, so that's the games we enjoy as adults. Back when I was in school, only the kids that couldn't make the football team played soccer (even though to play soccer I think you need to be in better shape). I enjoy watching football and basketball, don't have time for soccer. Another thing, your insulting comment, as well as the other insulting comments on this board do nothing but prove our jealousy. Last thing, why do you care so much if the sport of soccer does not catch on in the USA? Are you a future Beckham, and think you'll get more money here in the US if your sport catches on here?

EDIT:
I also found it funny that the biggest star of the sport wants to come here and what number does he want to wear?? 23, and why?? Because Micheal Jordan wore it, an American Basketball player...LOL

It's difficult to say. They've come up with their own sports, so football always has to compete with the big three (basketball, baseball and gridiron). It is played a lot by kids right up to college level, but there is very little played from then on (as opposed to gridiron which has a very popular college system), so it will probably always be a minority sport - even with the arrival of Becks.

Then you have their complete inability to accept nil-nil as a scoreline and the fact that they can't handle a draw as a result..

I've got no problem with footy not catching on in the USA, cos Iknow that if it did, you'd probably dominate the World Cup and be even more insufferable. I just can't understand why you prefer those sports that you do, as most of the rest of the world love 'The Beautiful Game'

it is because in USA, sports like baseball, basketball, NFL Football and ice hockey are very much dominant over there than soccer. The American are much better player in that sports than in soccer. there are saying the American sort of create sports like baseball, basketball etc. Soccer are not publicly expose unlike the other sports game. and furthermore, the American prefer baseball than basketball than NFL football than ice hockey. not much of them prefer soccer than the other games. and these had goes around for centuries. after the baseball season, the basketball season will begin and so forth.

soccer have been breed and born and raise in the other part of the continent except the USA. however, nowadays soccer had been rapid gain popularity among them.

there is a mindset. America, think baseball, basketball, NFL football or Ice hockey or Nascar. Because that's what make the american sport famous for. Europe, or Brazil, only got to think of one thing, which is Soccer. Because only at that part of the continent where u can enjoy great soccer match.

Give an american kid a ball and he will throw it, give a british kid a ball and he will kick it......America has Baseball, basketball, icehockey, and their american football. You would have thought with the latter that they would have worked out that football needs to be kicked with the FOOT, but no...they pick it up and run. Also the kids in school do not get scholarships for "Soccer", just the other three, so it will never enter mainstream. Im sure plenty of mums and dads now take their kids to see David though and im sure the interest will pick up dramatically over the next year of so.

Actually Soccer is quite popular. In the US there are now more clubs than ever, for men and women both. However, we already have national favorites in sports...football and baseball, followed by basketball. Are any of these 3 different sports popular in the UK? Is it really so difficult for an intellect such as yourself to comprehend the possibility that an entirely different country, yes even an entirely different culture, just might possibly have different preferences and opinions from you? It's a good thing you aren't as close minded, pig headed or judgmental as the Americans, right?

Because they have American football, basketball, baseball and hockey and all of these sports are popular and its difficult for football to become more popular.
I hate when americans call football- soccer. When i was in The USA last summer and i was in Seattle they told me that football becomes more and more popular there.
Personally for me football (soccer) is the most interesting game.

I believe it has more to do with our culture, soccer is the world's most popular sport by far. Perhaps the US feels that it doesn't want to have to feel as though it needs to fit in as far as what the rest of the wolrd is doing. Ironically enough American football is the most popular in this country and for good reason. The fierce competition played along the gridiron between 2 endzones has been a tradition for years.

actually Soccer has become pretty popular here.
Especially among the WOMEN! But the men in the US, prefer MANLY sports. Why hasn't your country taken up football? Maybe because the "men" can't handle a tackle?

Simple - in 1880-1900, when (mass transport evolved enabling leagues) every country permanently chose its most important sport, the US was in complete cultural isolation from the rest of the world (much like now - no movies, no music, no candy, no news organisation is allowed unless it is made in the US)
