According to the last poll I saw on pollingreport.com, most Americans think politicians are crooked, except for theirs.

Not all. But, power is corrupting.
Some politicians do remember they are representative of those that put them in office. Those are the good ones.....

As far as I can tell, even the ones who come across as good an honest, turn out to be just as corrupt as the rest. I am going to do a great deal of research before I decide who I want to support for president!!!!

because of the never ending growth of the monetary divide between the political representation and the common man,it is becoming more and more difficult for the politician to stay "engaged" with his constituency

No, all of them aren't bad. Some are trying desperately to save this country. Listen to John Edwards and Barack Obama and you will see that they are honest people who are working for the good of the people of the US.
