My boss has just started discussing promotion options with me and basically I would like to start dressing smartly to increase my confidence and prepare me for my potential new role (if I don't get it within my work I will be looking outside). as at the moment I mainly wear v-neck long sleeve t-shirts and black trousers with boring low heel court shoes. basically can anyone give me any tips and websites. I live in the UK and am 23 years old.

Invest in lots of separates. The advantage of them?
1. You can slowly buy one or two pieces at a time, so you aren't spending a fortune all at once for suits.
2. You can mix and match the items for a new look every day of the week, without having to have a closet full of things.
3. You can buy each item individually, so you can always find the best fit for your needs, in both size, cut, and style.
4. Because they fit together so nicely, you still get the look of a suit.
5. You get many color options in your wardrobe, so you aren't always stuck with neutrals.
6. You aren't limited in what and where you can wear your clothing. You can take your work pieces, and pair them with a different top/bottom, and have a totally new look to wear on evenings out. Or pair them with sweaters and blouses for a different look at work.

Look for basic solids that you can wear together. You aren't limited to black, brown, navy, or other neutrals. Choose whatever colors flatter you the best. You'll look nicer, and stand out more than in the traditional black suit.
Then stick to the neutrals in your shoes. One pair of black and one pair of brown dress pumps will go with most any outfit you can imagine.

Then make sure to have plenty of hose and accessories, which can be both cheap, to finish off your look. It helps to make you look confident, sophisticated, and put together.

I'm not sure what stores are close to you, but for web stores, try these affordable sites. They all offer a range of clothing, in styles appropriate for your age, and work needs.

Buy these basic pieces:

Black Blazer
Black Pants
Black Skirt
White Shell

The 4 basic pieces can be put with many other color options and can be interchanged so that you're not shelling out hundreds on a new wardrobe. Keep accessories simple, make sure your hairstyle is flattering and low-maintainance, and good luck with your future!
