what are some of the reasons why this might have occured (it did'nt show up until the third month in my possesion he is 7or8 months old.

other than fat deposits could he have been mishandled before i purchased him ,should i seperateim from my other corns.

It is hard to say without being able to see the bumps. It could be several things, including worms. For the safety of your other corns I would suggest removing him from that enclosure and keep him separate. Also, wash your hands after contacting him, before contacting your other snakes.

Take him to a vet that specializes in reptiles and get him checked out.

I admittedly have little knowledge on cornsnakes, but with a lot of lizards and reptiles bumps on the spine could mean stomach impaction, meaning he's swallowed something he wasn't supposed to (could be substrate) that is causing some blockage in his intestinal tract.

all your snakes should be seperated. that's first. you also should take that one to the vet. have you checked him for mites? is he spending lots of time in the water bowl? cornsnakes.com is a great resource for these questions...
